En Garde Data is my journey into the intersection of two distinct worlds: saber fencing and data science. I began saber fencing seriously in early 2022, and although some might say I started too late, it turned out to be the perfect time for me. I learned quickly, achieving an "A" rating within 18 months, and in 2024, I was selected for Japan’s junior national team, opening the door to international tournaments like the World Cups.
I have a habit of analyzing videos from all my bouts, studying my weaknesses to sharpen my technique and mental focus. I dream of creating a “magic box” that could automatically analyze these videos, identify my strategic and tactical areas for improvement, and even break down my opponents’ fencing patterns to reveal strategies for beating them.
This blog is my personal quest, but I believe it could spark new ideas in the fusion of data science and fencing.
